Every week I am reminded of just how friendly the members of the blogging world are. This week was no exception, in fact this week I found a long lost friend, made a couple of new ones, had a blogging stranger help me with my blog artwork, while a few others offered to help me fix my template. It reminded me of the time when my friend broke down on the highway and within an hour she had people stopping to let her use a cell, stopping to give her some water and one man who decided to stay until the tow truck driver came. Let me explain the connection.

Thursday and Friday I worked on revamping my blog layout. I am a real newbie and dunce when it comes to blog setting so I ended up just changing my banner and colors, quite the accomplishment for me. I needed someone to look it with fresh eyes, someone who did not know me well enough to only tell me what I want to hear, ( I hate it when my friends do that) someone who could tell a good blog layout from a bad layout. In short I needed people from the blogging community.
My plea for help went out to the members of Book Blog, a lovely site for readers and publishers. The forum space is very lively and friendly and one can always count on honest opinions. By Sunday afternoon I had about 15 people give me constructive feedback and helpful advice. One member a graphic artist redid my banner without being asked. It was then it hit me just how giving, friendly and warm the bogging community really is. Just like the strangers who helped my friend, the blogging community took the time to help me out.

As for finding a long lost friend, I have FaceBook to thank. It took about 30 seconds of looking for me to find my long lost best friend from high school. We chatted on the phone Sunday for almost two hours. It was wonderful to find her. I wonder what will happen next week?

Happy Relaxation Day! According to the Huffington Post today is National Relaxation Day. I am sure many people, including my son, would use this as an excuse to be lazy. Not me I am going to relax my mind today.

Today I vow to take a break from worrying about bills, my health and the economy. I will spend the day engaging in activities that further my long term goals. Today I will skip TV watching and instead listen to Mozart while clearing clutter from my house. Sounds like work, but it is not. I will be getting rid of what is no longer important to me in order to give myself some space or breathing room.

Following my heart surgery I came to the conclusion I have way to much material stuff or junk as I now refer to a lot of my belongings. I worried that if something were to happen to me it would be up to my mother and son to clean out my house. What a terrible burden on them! Soon my son will be off to college and no longer will I be required to maintain my big house and yard. I will be free to move from Carson City in order to attend graduate school. At some point I will have to think about moving again and what I really want to take with me. A lot of this clutter just has to go.

I have been spending a lot time worrying about my bills, my health and our state’s lousy economy. Today I want a break from all this, so hello Mozart, goodbye stressful thinking!

Of course, part of my day will include reading. This always relaxes me.
