Off to San Fran again

I am off early in the AM to San Fransisco again. This time it is my son’s turn to have his heart checked and I will have my second check up. Hopefully I will be told I can return to work. I look forward to being useful again, but will miss hanging out at home If I could work from home I would jump at the chance; any suggestions on how to sucessfuly work from home? Are any of you lucky enough to work from home? If so tell us about it.

I am taking the book Shakespeare’s World by D L Johanyak. I finished Shutter Island yesterday; did not see that end coming. Not sure what else I will take as I am short on paperbacks.

I will return Sunday hopefully with stories from the big city and more pictures to post. I love the Bay Area and am looking forward to the sea food and cable cars. Not looking forward to the traffic and hospital.

Happy Reading and don’t forget to spread the word about the Dracula in Love book giveaway.

Sunday wrap up.

So, dear Readers, what did you do this week? I participated in my first Readathon and though it was to run from Monday to Sunday, I have to admit I only read Tuesday through Friday. My reviews of the books can be found here:http://theviewfromsarisworld.blogspot.com/2010/07/friday-reviewathon.html
It really amazed me how fast a week can go by when one is busy reading. Before I knew it I had finished four books in four days. I have not done that in a long time. The last time did this was back when I got suckered into reading the Twilight series. This was after a surgery and when I needed to get my mind off my situation. Thankfully this time around I picked some real winners.  Having read two Karen Essex’ book I can now say she is one of my favorite historical fiction authors.
Yesterday my mother and I headed out to Reno with the hopes of finding good deals on cloths. I did not set out to buy shoes, but oh how I love shoes! I found this pair at T J Max. This was my first and possibly last purchase at this chain; I was not real thrilled with their clothing selection.
Next we headed to Steinmart, which sadly I always assumed was a big store dedicated to steins and other glassware.  I am not sure if this is a chain, I would compare this to Macy’s yet it is much smaller. Not only was Steinmart having a sale, they gave us an extra 33% off.  I think this sweater was originally $68.00 but I ended up paying only $13.00. This was my deal of the day. It will quickly become a favorite when sweater seasons starts again.
Last night my luck continued as I received an e-mail from On Demand Studios informing me that I qualify for several of their freelance writer jobs. I am thrilled as extra money is always welcome. I had to laugh because one of the sites they will pay me to write for is E-How. I already write for them, but do earn enough to call myself a paid writer. With on Demand I will finally make enough to be able to say with a straight face, I am a professional writer.
I started God is not ONE by Stephen Prothero last night and am enjoying it. The book is a great introduction to the eight major religions yet in-depth enough to hold my interest.

So that was my week. Not sure what is coming up this week. I am hoping to continue reading book after book; school is starting soon so I will not have time for pleasure reading for quite a while
