Beowulf Hero or Contained Monster

While spending this week studying and writing about religious imagination in literature, I’d like to offer you a look at a morality tale about naked power and lust for money. As you listen to the summery by Professor Sweet think about the similarities between Beowulf’s high opinion of himself as the world’s greatest defender of good and the American role of World police.

 Beowulf teaches us that violence only begets violence.  This begs the question, “Is Beowulf a hero or contained monster”?
